Benedetta is a PhD student in the Agriculture, Food, and Environment program at the University of Pisa, where she is part of the PAGE – Pisa AGricultural Economics – team. Her academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in Biological Science and a master’s degree in human nutrition with a biomedical focus, both from the University of Pisa. Throughout her studies, she has explored nutrition from multiple perspectives, including physical and psychological health, environmental impact, and food-related policies. During her master’s program, she completed an internship at the “Food Policy” office of the Municipality of Capannori, Tuscany (Italy). She was involved in the evolution process of the “Piana del Cibo” (Plain of Food), Italy’s first inter-municipal food policy. In January 2024, she defended her thesis titled “Food Policies for Healthy and Sustainable Diets: A Mapping Exercise of the Food Environment in the Municipality of Capannori,” for which she was awarded the best thesis on “Sustainable Nutrition” by the Commission for Sustainable Development (CoSA). Her PhD research focuses on food policies aimed at promoting healthy and sustainable diets, with a particular emphasis on interventions related to the food environment. Her research is also supported by the Horizon project foodCLIC.
