Fabiana Stortini achieved an MA in International Relations at the University of Siena and a post graduate diploma in Sustainability of Food Systems at the University of Torino. During her studies she also attended courses focusing on the connection between sustainability and management of resources, with particular attention to the agriculture sector.
During five years of professional experience, she worked in the management of European projects related to the development of rural areas, in the field of international cooperation, and in the valorization of PDO and PGI products.
In line with her studies and interests she is currently a Ph.D. student in Agricultural, Food and Environment at the University of Pisa and she is part of the Pisa Agricultural Economics group (PAGE). Her research project focuses on the role of governance in rural areas. Her research project is based on the assumption that rural opportunities and challenges should be addressed with appropriate strategies at the local level and with local actors and institutions contributing to local knowledge and resources. The ambition is to investigate, through a case study, the role of the Rural District of Val di Cecina, Italy, with particular attention to the processes of policy integration.
